Attending the Inauguration of our nation’s first biracial president made me feel empowered. It was amazing to be amongst thousands of supportive and excited fellow Americans that made the voyage to DC for this historical day. The moment President Obama was sworn in, it hit me that maybe now as Americans we will be on our way to more progressive times. I hope that each of us will start or continue to make a difference in our communities and act upon the change that we all need to contribute to in making this country and world a better place for each other and our generations to come.

All the walking and enduring the intense cold was well worth hearing Barack Obama deliver a message that has laid the foundation on which, with the help of President Obama, we, as Americans, will begin to “pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.”
It was enough to know that I was a part of history. That the work that so many people did in the time leading up to this historic inauguration paid off. Our nation has made a historic step forward in cashing the check of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” that it had denied so many in the years leading up to this one. With that said I should caution, as President Obama has himself, that there is still lots of work to be done.

Becky, what a great and inspiring reflection! It's an exciting time for all of our work in civic engagement especially. I hope we as Bonner staff and students can find ways to participate in the political process, with its grassroots organizing focus. Nice words!

I was amazed last Tuesday! I watched history being made along with millions of others. The world has changed so much in the past few years. I feel that our nation is only going to get better as the years come. The Inauguration of our 44th President I will never forget. The Inauguration made me feel that our nation can come togather to make one, and that we can and will change for the better if we try hard enough. The ceremony was wonderful. I loved listening to all the speeches, singing, and the playing of the musical instruments. It sent chills through my body. Everything that i saw that day on tv gave me hope that we will succeed. The minute that the clocked strucked noon I could feel a dfference being made already. The looks on the faces that were there i will never forget, some even cried. Its shocking to see what people are feeling and really understand how they feel about the subject just by watching them. I was so amazed by the inauguration of out 44th President of the United States.
